Where Is It?

Paphos is a bustling city located on the western side of the island of Cyprus. Surrounded by the Mediterranean sea, this ancient town is said to be the birth place of the Greek goddess Aphrodite.The town of Paphos is situated around a small harbour that is full of open air fish restaurants serving up the catch of the day. The quayside of this harbour is filled with bright fishing boats and pleasure crafts which are a joy to view.Paphos is nestled in the western Troodos Mountains and this adds another dimension to the amazing scenery that you can view. Greek mythology is entwined deeply in Paphas and this is mainly due to the fact that it is the birth place of Aphrodite.There are famous landmarks associated with this goddess and these include Aphordite’s rocks or Petra Tou Romiou as they are known locally.There is also the sanctuary of Aphrodite which is located in Kouklia, and there are the baths of Aphrodite in Polis.Paphos itself is even linked to Aphrodite, it being the name given to the mythological daughter of Pygmalion and Venus.

Paphos was once the capital of Cyprus during Roman times and it is also connected to early Christianity.Paphos is becoming extremely popular as a holiday destination and there are a number of hotels, apartments, and villas.It is the perfect destination for holiday makers and boasts nearly 300 days of sunshine per year.
